Reflection : Heart of Yoga Week

Below is a reflection from an Agama student, Norma, who participated in the Heart of Yoga week’s happenings.

Sometimes the universe gives exactly what you need when you need it. After noting the week of yoga coming up in the newsletter, I filed it away at the back of my brain but didn’t think much more about it. The sunset timing turned out to be a gift for my schedule.

Barbara’s talk before the practice on Monday evening gave me an intention to try to carry through the week and remind myself to think about how to be a better person . At the end of our Monday evening practice which was gentle and reflective I realised I was really smiling as was everyone around me.

Unfortunately due to prior commitments I was not able to attend every class but carried through alternate days finishing the week on Friday and Saturday .

Some chanting was introduced to the class at the end of the week and although I admit I was I initially quite challenged and feeling self conscious about not doing it properly. With Fiona’s gentle teaching I was able to let that go and the feeling of the group connection when chanting together was amazing.

The final session gave us an opportunity to focus on our gratitude for our yoga practice and especially to honour our teachers which was a beautiful and fitting end to a very special mid Winter week of reflection , connection and lots of smiling.

I felt my cup was truly full.
